Ronny Goodlass (ex-Everton Football Player) hosted the very first Dixie Dean Golf Cup event at West Derby Golf Club and invited his friends, including Leon Osman, Graham Stuart, Alan Stubbs, Derek Mountfield & more for the charity golf tournament raising money for Wirral Ark and his own charity Health Through Sport.

Elliot Fletcher Ltd entered a Team of 4 players, Stephen Cryer, Steve Skupski, Mark Dewhurst and Andy Nolan. A shotgun start and the Elliot Fletcher Team started on the tricky 12th, a long par 3 with a £10,000 prize for a hole in one, needless to say, the £10,000 was very safe! A great chip for an eagle by Andy Nolan on the par 5 8th was an enormous help, a solid round was played by the team all contributing to the score, although some far more than others! The Elliot Fletcher Team scored 101 points, winning by just one point.

The Winners Trophy

The fun-filled Dixie Dean Golf Cup day included 18 holes of golf, competitions, 2-course meal and prize presentation with auction and Q & A session with the former players. Prizes included £10,000 for a hole in one, a Golf trip to Portugal and a set of clubs. The tournament, named after Dixie Dean, the local-born Tranmere Rovers and Everton player, took place in amazing, sunny weather and the prizes were presented by Dixie Deans granddaughter, Melanie Prentice. Local businesses sponsored various items for the day and Barclaycard pledged to match fund, all helping to raise over £11,000 for these deserving charities.

The whole day focused on two main charities, close to everyone’s hearts,

Wirral Ark is a registered charity that exists to provide accommodation for the homeless, under the MainStay framework, as well as providing support and guidance for individuals to secure permanent long-term accommodation.
